LAByrinth
Theater Company offers intensive Master Class programs for groups of 16
students, over a 5-week period.
Taught
by Company Members, LAByrinth's Master Classes are multi-disciplinary
and include work in body,
movement,
scene
study, writing,
performing,
producing,
and most importantly, ensemble
building.
The class culminates in a presentation of original work written by
the class, which is open to the Company and the students' guests.
|
Both
the content and the selection process of the Master Class reflect
LAByrinth's own beginnings, and the way that we continue to work today.
An
interview panel of Company Members meets applicants to select 16 people
whom we believe will work well together. We want people who show
creative initiative in their lives, who will contribute to (and get a
lot out of) building an ensemble, and who will bring the commitment and
support that make each Master Class a one-of-a-kind experience.
At LAB, you'll be encouraged and enabled to take risks you haven't dared take before -- physical, intellectual and emotional.
Classes
are 10am-6pm, one day a week, for 5 weeks. Outside work is
required. Due to the ensemble nature of the class, and the
amount
of information covered in a short period of time, you must be in
attendance for all five of the classes. Please do not apply
for
an interview if you know that is not possible for you.
COST:
If
you are accepted into the Master Class, the tuition costs $800.

STUDENT FEEDBACK:
“After the Master Class, I
not only consider myself an actor and writer – but have come to
appreciate myself as 'an artist.' I no longer feel boundaries that may
have previously been set in my mind, and I realize the only limits I
have are the ones I put on myself.”
former Master Class student Carrie D. - New York |
“I am so grateful to LAB for
sharing such greatness with me ... We have been given a map and now it
is time to take the journey and head out.”
former Master Class student Jessica S. - California |
“This class has brought me
back to pursing the art of theatre, instead of just going from audition
to audition, so truly thank you.”
former
Master Class student Bernardo C. - New York |
“I think it taught us never
to say, "We can't, I can't,” because when you don't have time to make
an excuse, you figure out you can!”
former
Master Class Student Jeanine B. - New York |
